California MAT Expansion Project Website Re-designed
Since 2018, Aurrera Health Group has assisted the California Department of Health Care Services with project management and communications for the California MAT Expansion Project, a statewide effort to expand access to treatment for individuals with opioid use disorders. One of the most visible aspects of this work is CaliforniaMAT.org, a one-stop source for information and resources related to the project. The Aurrera Health team recently completed a redesign of the website, which more prominently highlights outcomes from the first two years of the project and features new ways to share more information about resources and events. The revamped website includes:
Outcomes from the MAT Expansion Project, including 25,000 individuals treated and 12,000 opioid overdoses reversed with the opioid overdose reversal medication naloxone;
More developed pages for MAT Expansion project descriptions and resources;
An order form for MAT Toolkits and flyers developed by Aurrera Health Group. These resources have been developed as training tools for professionals who interact with individuals with opioid use disorder, including counselors, primary care providers, DUI programs, and justice system professionals; and
An events calendar.
The website redesign comes at an important time, as the state embarks on a new round of funding and the next iteration of the project. The next round of funding will allow treatment for stimulants, such as cocaine and methamphetamine in addition to opioids, as well as continuing to focus on California’s priority populations: tribal populations, youth, and individuals experiencing homelessness. With COVID-19 creating challenges to treatment access and driving increases in overdose rates in California and nationally, the ability to connect and share resources is more crucial than ever.
