REPORT: Improving California’s Health Care Delivery System for the Child Welfare-Involved Population: Concepts and Considerations

December 2020

Prepared on behalf of the California Departments of Health Care Services (DHCS) and Social Services (CDSS) for the CalAIM Foster Care Model of Care Workgroup, Improving California’s Health Care Delivery System for the Child Welfare-Involved Population: Concepts and Considerations addresses the question of how the health care delivery system for the child welfare-involved population could be organized to better integrate and coordinate medical, behavioral, dental, and social services, provide children and youth with a single continuous point of contact to help address issues and solve problems, and ensure adequate access to specialty care. It presents a number of concepts for modifying or transforming the existing health care delivery system to achieve these aims.
