Sarah Leff

Sarah Leff, MPH, serves as a Deputy Director at Aurrera Health Group. Sarah has led state-level programs and initiatives in maternal, child, and adolescent health and brings a deep knowledge of California’s health landscape. 

Prior to joining Aurrera Health Group, Sarah worked for ten years at the California Department of Public Health, where she managed programs and initiatives focused on child and family mental health, positive and adverse childhood experiences, children and youth with special health care needs, and adolescent sexual health education. She has provided collaborative support and technical assistance to county health departments across California.  

Sarah’s work is driven by a commitment to health equity and trauma-informed practices, focusing on public health approaches to improve the health of individuals, families, and communities. She excels in stakeholder engagement and strategic collaboration, aiming to improve health systems using a life course framework and understanding of the social determinants of health. Sarah’s notable achievements include receiving the 2021 Emerging Maternal and Child Health Professional Award for Region IX from the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs and leading the creation of statewide health initiatives in California. 

Sarah holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in international development studies and women’s studies from UCLA. In her free time, she loves to garden, make jam, and go on outdoor adventures with her dog.
