Jenneil Johansen, MSPH, PMP, is a Deputy Director on the Medicaid Policy & Programs team at Aurrera Health Group. She supports various state, federal, and foundation clients on initiatives focused on improving health care quality and access through project management, technical assistance, stakeholder engagement, policy analysis and research, quality measurement, and reporting.
Since joining Aurrera Health Group in 2021, Jenneil supported the planning and execution of an annual conference for California’s Quality Incentive Pool (QIP) program and aided a state in the development of recommendations for designing and implementing an accreditation requirement. Jenneil currently provides project management, technical assistance, analytic, and policy research support on projects focused on developing an annual provider performance report to drive improvements in timely access to behavioral health services in the District of Columbia; implementing statewide efforts to facilitate data collection to increase the transparency and quality of community behavioral health services in California; providing technical writing support for the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) Medicaid/CHIP Core Sets; and collecting and reporting findings to identify racial and ethnic disparities in California.
Before joining Aurrera Health Group, Jenneil was a management consultant for Guidehouse, where she supported the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In her work with the VA, she led process development efforts to operationalize the Center for Care and Payment Innovation, a center authorized to design, test, and implement pilot programs to improve health care delivery for veterans. She also conducted health care policy research and program analysis and has experience engaging key stakeholders to drive forward valuable solutions.
Jenneil previously worked at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), supporting multiple initiatives to improve health care quality. She oversaw the administration of the Medicare Health Outcomes Survey, which gathers data to measure the quality of managed care organizations participating in the Medicare Advantage program. She also provided technical support to health systems participating in California’s value-based payment programs. Additionally, she researched and developed recommendations to include telehealth in NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) behavioral and physical quality measures.
Jenneil holds a master’s degree in public health, focused on health policy from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a bachelor’s degree in health care policy from Mount St. Mary’s University, Los Angeles. She currently resides in Seattle, WA.
