Kelly Murphy

Managing Principal, Behavioral Health Policy

 

Kelly Murphy, MPH serves as Managing Principal for Behavioral Health Policy on the Integrated Care team at Aurrera Health Group. Kelly is a behavioral health, and maternal and child health policy expert who has focused her career on helping state governments address pressing health challenges. In her role, Kelly leads the firm’s work on a variety of behavioral health initiatives including the State Opioid Response (SOR) grant with California’s Department of Health Care Services.

Prior to joining Aurrera Health Group, Kelly worked at Families USA where she was the Director of Early Childhood and Maternal Health and worked to improve policy and health outcomes at the federal, state and community levels. She also served as the organization’s public health lead on COVID-19.

Previous to her time at Families USA, Kelly was the Project Director for the SOR grant at the District of Columbia’s Department of Behavioral Health. Kelly worked at the National Governors Association for more than seven years and led the public health portfolio which included a significant focus on helping governors and states implement comprehensive plans to address the opioid crisis across the continuum from prevention through treatment and recovery. In addition to her work on Behavioral Health, Kelly has led projects focused on federal and state policy change on infant and maternal mortality, equity in COVID-19 vaccinations, and home visiting.

Kelly holds a master of public health with a concentration in maternal and child health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication, also from UNC-Chapel Hill. She lives in Washington, DC, with her spouse, two young children, and a lovable, energetic Catahoula leopard dog named Louise.
