Maria Sigua is Aurrera Health Group’s Director of Employee Engagement. Maria has been with the firm since 2013 and currently oversees company programs that encourage employee development, engagement, and retention. In her role, Maria directs development and engagement programs like the Aurrera Health Group Mentorship Program and performance review cycle, oversees staff-led committees, and coordinates the planning and execution of activities and events such as the company-wide staff retreat.
Prior to joining Aurrera Health Group, Maria was an Account Assistant with Ziegler Associates, an independent public affairs firm in Sacramento, where she provided communications and public affairs support to nonprofit organizations, government entities, state and national associations, and businesses. At Ziegler Associates, Maria worked with clients to develop and implement public affairs plans that included identifying key audiences, creating collateral materials, and targeting media outreach.
Maria previously worked at the University of California at Davis Campus Unions Event Services Department where she helped organize, plan, and manage more than 7,000 annual events held throughout the UC Davis campus. She also served as the lead assistant to the administrative services director for the UC Davis Picnic Day – the largest student-run event in the nation.
Maria holds bachelor’s degrees in English and Psychology from the University of California, Davis. She lives in Sacramento with her husband and son.
