Nicolette Ricker joined Aurrera Health Group in August 2021 as the firm’s Digital Designer. In this role she supports clients and partners develop strategic visuals to engage stakeholders and execute projects and programs. Nicolette’s design and branding are also showcased throughout Pathways to Resilience, Aurrera Health’s independent initiative which provides a national forum to help states and communities advance trauma-responsive policies and programs across sectors.

Prior to joining the Aurrera Health team, Nicolette spent three years at California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Division, where she built and sustained a brand that supports the Division’s efforts by bringing credibility, loyalty and trust to its programs, while helping build support for MCAH as a whole.

Health equity has been a significant aspect of Nicolette’s career the last three years. At MCAH she worked collaboratively with programs in her division such as Black Infant Health and the Perinatal Equity Initiative. Other topics she designed for during this time include maternal suicide, opioids and pregnancy, maternal mental health, home visiting, sudden infant death syndrome, adolescent sexual health, and children and youth with special healthcare needs. Her opioids and pregnancy awareness campaign received an Award for Excellence in Public Health Communication given by the National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC).

Nicolette holds her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Sacramento State University. She has continued her learning by completing courses in visual storytelling at UC Berkeley’s Advanced Media Institute, data visualization with 5W Consulting, and meeting/event marketing and communication with Sacramento State’s Event Planning Certificate Program. In her free time you can find Nicolette enjoying the outdoors with her German Shorthair Pointer or out with her loved ones enjoying adventurous food.
