Aurrera Health led the ACEs Aware initiative on behalf of the California Department of Health Care Services and the Office of the California Surgeon General. ACEs Aware was a statewide initiative to train health care and behavioral health providers to screen Medicaid members for adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and make referrals for members who might benefit from additional supports. Aurrera Health convened a clinical advisory committee that helped shape the infrastructure for the program and develop the curriculum for the online training, Becoming ACEs Aware in California; developed and executed a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan, developed and released the ACEs Aware Trauma-Informed Network of Care Roadmap; oversaw $45 million in grants awarded to 150 communities across California to bring the Network of Care Roadmap to life; and provided technical assistance and policy support.
