Deputy Director
Vimbai Madzura, MA, LISW, is a Deputy Director for Medicaid Quality Initiatives on the Medicaid Policy & Programs team at Aurrera Health Group. She provides policy research and analysis, project management support, strategic advice, support for community and stakeholder engagement efforts, and policy and program development on various projects focused on trauma-responsive care, behavioral health, and health care quality and access.
Prior to Aurrera, Vimbai worked with the Minnesota Department of Human Services supporting the development and implementation of Medicaid behavioral health and integrated care models, and care coordination programs. She also supported practice transformation efforts for agencies and organizations seeking to deliver culturally responsive integrated health care services. Vimbai also has direct experience providing behavioral health case management, care coordination in primary care systems, and crisis management services for individuals receiving Medicaid, and working to build partnerships to help strengthen service delivery and referrals. Vimbai is committed to working collaboratively towards improving policies and programs in ways that are inclusive and promote equitable outcomes.
Vimbai holds a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in advertising from the University of Texas at Austin. Vimbai lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and outside of work, she enjoys instructing and taking fitness classes in Zumba®, strength training and functional training. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family, travelling, hiking, reading, and the occasional dance party.
