Aurrera Health is partnering with Cardea to support the Kansas City Health Department and Mayor’s Health Commission: Birth Equity Committee to develop a scorecard that will be used to assess birthing center providers on indicators that represent quality health care and services for Black birthing people and babies. As part of this work, the team is collecting Black maternal and child health data in Kansas City, Missouri; and conducting a comparative analysis of health outcomes for Black birthing people and babies to other racial and ethnic counterparts. The team is also engaging community members and providers to draft indicators that define “quality health care/services to black women and babies,” and creating a scorecard that outlines these indicators. The team will score each provider across the indicators listed in the scorecard with the goal of driving improvements in health and health care outcomes for Black birthing people and babies in Kansas City.
